Is it ok for the to have moving water with goldfish?
we have a pond which i roughly 2m x 1.5m and around 80cm in depth. i have put a little fountain which acts as a filter. it comes out of the water and falls back in. which means the pond water is constantly moving. it doesnt come to the extent of splashing however the water is quite fast moving.
doesnt this hesitate and annoy the fish?
Answer:
No problem with the fish at all, it's just rain. The water falling back will agitate the surface and allow gas exchange. If you are worried you could pipe it and make a waterfall instead.
When you say it acts as a filter do you mean it has a sponge over the intake?
If so, while nitrogen cycle bacteria will grow on it, it offers minimal filtration.
Pond filtration systems can be quite costly, but with a trip to the local DIY center and some basic engineering you could make a suitable system on a budget.
