Water Coasters
Battle of the Dubai Water Parks
Dubai is the city that seems to have everything and it even has two of some thing's… including waterparks. With the Wild Wadi Waterpark in Jumeirah and Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis there's more than enough water adventures to be had by all!
At Wild Wadi there are over 30 rides and attractions for all the family to enjoy on thier Dubai holiday, from the rapid Wadi Twister & Jumeirah Sceirah to Tumble Falls & the Rushing Rapids. Some of the park's highlights include Breakers Bay, the largest wave pool in the Middle East, with waves reaching 1.4 metres high and the Jumeirah Sceirah. This high speed, hurtling water ride that travels at 80km per hour, from a height of 33 metres... definitely not for the faint hearted.
However, Aquaventure waterpark is also home to many exhilarating rides and water-coasters. The pitch-black Surge ride takes riders on a twisting, racing journey while the Leap of Faith catapults riders for 61 metres and travels through a shark-filled lagoon. The Falls water-coaster is also a favourite as it travels around the waterpark, jetting up, down and around.
Both parks have excellent areas for smaller children where parents can be sure the rides and play areas are suitable for their little ones. The Splashers play area and Water Playground at Aquaventure are filled with tipping buckets, climbing frames and smaller water slides that will keep children entertained for hours.
As always, waterparks in Dubai are not just about water rides and pools. There are many more things to do and see in both waterparks.
In Wild Wadi, the latest attractions open to guests are the Flowrider and FISHO fish Spa. On the Flowrider rides guests can enjoy the ultimate surfing experience in the wave effect pool, and can even try body-boarding! The new FISHO fish spa uses Garra Ruffa fish to exfoliate feet for those valiant enough to dip their feet in the water.
A major attraction away from all the rides and water coasters inside Aquaventure is the Aquaventure Beach. This 700 metre long private beach is exclusively for the use of guests to Aquaventure and Dolphin Bay and is perfect for a relaxing break in the sunshine.
So, in terms of the nitty-gritty which park offer best value for money and the best overall experience?
The Wild Wadi park charges 205AED (around £34) for adult entry and 165AED (£28) for children. However, entry to the park is free for all guests staying in any of the Jumeirah hotels.
Aquaventure offers special rates when you buy tickets on the day of your visit, 140AED (£24) for adults and 115AED (£20) for children, but entry is also free for guests staying at Atlantis, The Palm Hotel. Despite being cheaper, Aquaventure is the much bigger waterpark; 42acres, whereas Wild Wadi is set over 12 acres. Both parks are open all-year round and have numerous places to eat and drink and excellent souvenir shops.
I couldn't possibly make a decision as to which park is better… the best way to find out is to book a trip to Dubai and visit them yourself!
