bent the valves on my 2005 kia optima lx 2.4l when changing the timing belt ,took it to a shop, they replaced the valves and timing belt resurfaced the head put all back to gather, now the oil light comes on when i am at a stop as long as i am driving it does not come on. It sounds like they reassembled something wrong and it's letting the oil leak out of the system.
You see, your cam, crank, push rods and block all have little holes in them called galleys. All of the little holes need to line up and the oil goes through them from one of the engine to the other (Either front to back or back to front depending on the manufacturer). So what's happening is so much oil is leaking out your oil pump can't keep up and you're starving what ever is ahead of the leak of oil and doing damage.
You need to take it back to the shop and demand they fix it before you get a spun bearing or throw a rod through the side of the block and need a new engine. And yes, lack of oil can do enough damage to make an engine un-rebuildable and you'll need to buy a new one.
