Tips for Drinking Filtered Water at School
Does your child get enough filtered drinking water while at school?
Wouldn't it be great if kids didn't have to wait until between classes while rushing down the hall to grab a drink of water? I LOVE what my daughter's school does. Each classroom has a water cooler. Keep in mind this can be a fancy expensive filter or a simple Brita for $20 from Target. Each classroom also has a special shelf whereon each child puts their drinking mug that they bring from home and use for the year.
See what I mean? Clean drinking water whenever the child needs it. Mugs that are washed as needed and no paper waste! I am a huge collector of enamel dishes and collect them at flea markets like everyone in my neighborhood will someday wake up having had all their dishes stolen. No, it's not that bad, but I do have around a dozen enamel mugs. They are awesome because the kids can drop them on the back concrete patio and there's no breakage. They are easy to wash and I keep them hung underneath our upper cabinets so my oldest daughter can be as independent as possible.
Want to volunteer for a classroom project? Make filtered drinking water your gig.
Here are a few ideas for success in your kids' drinking water at school:
1-Purchase a water bottle for them, stainless steel, or BPA free preferred
2-A small carabiner is a great way to attach the water bottle to the lunch box or the backpack so you're not replacing the water bottle multiple times.
3-Add a bag of chamomile , lavender, or peppermint tea to your child's water bottle with the tag hanging out. My daughter loves her "flavored" water and asks for it multiple times per week.
4-If your child is a juice drinker and you want to wean him/her, begin watering down the juice and over the course of a couple weeks, they should become more water reliant.
